Welcome to Scarboccia
ScarBoccia is a non profit organisation, who are devoted to making a difference in our community to disabled adults and youngsters who wish to participate and compete in the sport of Boccia. We are affiliated with Boccia England.
We were formed on 7th October 2014. Our aims are to increase awareness of the game within our local and surrounding areas. We are currently working with local schools and groups. We have participated in various competitions and events.
We are working towards recruiting and increasing our members and developing our current players so they can continue to compete in competitions at a higher level, however for us to accomplish this we require further funding for equipment; such as ramps and individuals to help us run our weekly sessions and assist us in areas of Marketing and Publicity and development in establishing a permanent coach and secure foundation for the club.
Our aim is to promote the sport of Boccia and to raise the profile of Scarboccia and the Sports Village, which was opened by the athlete Colin Jackson on 10th June 2017.
Some of our members have recently completed in the Yorkshire Regional Leagues and we became Champions again this season 2018/19 therefore we have successfully qualified for the Nationals that will be hosted in Nottingham on Saturday 13th July 2019.
We are at present looking for a permanent volunteer treasurer, who is willing to join a determined and proactive Committee that wishes to progress and develop further. In order for us to accomplish this we welcome donations so that members are able to expand their skills and knowledge in all aspects of Boccia and attend the relevant courses that are required for us to achieve our long term aims and goals and enable them to attend more competitions which are held around the UK.
Scarboccia is a registered Special Olympics Club and we are in collaboration with Special Olympics Great Britain allowing eligible members to also enter competitions.
