Merry Christmas from Scarboccia

Hello everyone, well we have come to the final Newsletter of 2019 and what a year it has been for Scarboccia. Our best Season to date. We are very proud of our achievements and how we have progressed in the last 5 years since Scarboccia was formed thanks to our friend and supporter Pablo Rees without his vision Scarboccia would not have existed. Well done and thank you to everyone keep up the hard work.

Highlights of 2019

  • Yorkshire Regional Champions
  • Registering as a Special Olympics of Great Britain Club

The last few months have been extremely busy for the Club with various inclusive sport and fundraising events.

National Boccia Day Fun 27th September

National Boccia Day this year was a very special day to everyone who compete or who are involved with the sport as 2019 sees Boccia being a Paralympic sport for 35 years so clubs around the country/world had their own way of celebrating this milestone.

Scarboccia celebrating 35 Years of Boccia – We love it!

Congratulations to Linda & Chloe on achieving silver medals & Stewart Finney & Mark on gaining bronze at the Smile Through Sport Open Pairs competition held in Gateshead on 29th September. This was the largest ever Boccia competition to be held in England with over 100 competitors from all over the UK and was sponsored by Irwin Michelle Solicitors. A great day was had by all involved.

We have been working in collaboration with our friends at Whitby Disablement Action Group providing a total of 9 once a week Boccia sessions to the residents of the seaside town further up the coast ensuring that we can reach out to more people wishing to play inclusive sport with the help of our very own members Dale and Steven who live in Whitby.
