Welcome to our first newsletter of 2020. Well what a great start to the year it has been for Scarboccia.
Scarboccia are now a Bronze Accredited Club with our governing body Boccia England. This kite mark ensures that we follow the governance that is required and demonstrates that we offer a safe fun environment for our members and that we have the correct policies and procedures in place so everyone can continue to enjoy Boccia and other inclusive sports either for fun or at a competitive level. We are hoping to progress to a Silver award in 2021. Scarboccia now have 2 qualified Level 1 Coaching in Boccia coaches in Linda & Dale.

Members of our club have recently attended two competitions, Smile Through Sport and the Heathcoat Cup. Everyone enjoyed the SMILE day where over 100 participants took part. Scarboccia did really well. Chloe George and Dale Milne achieved Silver and Bronze medals respectively, well done to both of you. This was also Rebecca Coopers first ever Boccia competition where she came forth, well done Becky and we all received rosettes. A great day had by all.
We attended the Heathcoat Cup where both Chloe and Dale achieved Silver medals in their respective categories and ensuring their places in the National Heathcoat Finals on 26th April in Warwick (to be re scheduled)- congratulations to you both, Scarboccia are proud of you all.

Scarboccia joined forces with the First Light Trust Veterans and the Scarborough Marine Fire Brigade at Queen Street Methodist Church in February for a fun Boccia session which was well attended and was enjoyed by everyone.

Chloe entered her first Special Olympics competition on 1st March as part of a Team event in Sheffield and we are very proud to say that Chloe achieved a Gold medal. Everyone who attended this event played really well.

We welcome to the Committee Nadine Bussey who has kindly offered to also run a weekly Visually Impaired Boccia session at the Y.M.C.A. in Scarborough, although anyone is welcome to the session as Boccia and sport is inclusive to everyone.
