Hello everyone and welcome to our winter newsletter.

We would like to congratulate our Chairman Alan Banks on winning the Radio York Make a Difference Volunteer Award that took place at York Racecourse on Friday 16th September in recognition for his 34 years of football coaching at Filey Holt Football Club.

Alan also attended a Boccia event held in York at the Family Fund Headquarters promoting Boccia with their staff members and with Stacey Reed the People Development Manager from Boccia England.

Alan was also nominated by Boccia England as one of their September Boccia Hero’s. Everyone at Scarboccia are very proud of him.

Scarboccia were featured in the Scarborough News in September for the Tesco funding we were awarded thanks to the voting of the local community.

Scarboccia have kindly been sponsored by Dexter’s Surf Shop for our new team shirts. Here is Alan collecting the shirts with his guide dog Oscar. They will be embroidered with our Scarboccia Logo.

We also would like to thank the following people for their recent donations:-

Filey Lions

Bruce Wake Charitable Trust

Gay & Hartley’s Hillard’s Charitable Trust

On Sunday 12 November 7 of the Scarboccia team travelled to Newcastle to the Smile Through Sport competition who hosted over 100 people from all around the UK and it was the largest held to date. This is a a fun event and for 3 of our members it was their first ever competition. We brought home 2 Golds, a Silver and a Bronze. What a Super Smashing Sunday and great to see so many of our friends together at one venue. We would also like to thank Scarborough Lions and our driver Alan Deacon for taking us to Newcastle enabling us to participate in such a fabulous event.

We thank all our members PA’s for continuously bringing them to our sessions and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 9th January 2024.
