Hello, and welcome to our Summer Newsletter. We hope that you are enjoying the sun and keeping well.
Hi, my name is Stewart Finney. I play Boccia every Monday and Tuesday. I like to play Boccia with old friends and new. I enjoy Boccia because it’s a good way to meet new people and have fun.
I like to take part in Boccia competitions and when we play competitions we go to different places, we meet new people and have fun. I have played in many competitions with our team and we have won too.
In March following our funding from Allianz Sports Fund they sent some gifts for our members.
Scarboccia Needs You!
We are in need of Volunteers so if you know anyone who has a few hours a week to spare then please ask them to contact us via our Scarboccia Facebook Page. Here is more details about the tasks and activities you would be involved with and what the role entails. They can also join our team if they wish and help bring new ideas to the Club and help us to develop so we can keep providing Inclusive Sports and Games to our members and the Community. It would also help us facilitate sessions at our hubs and enable team members to attend Training Courses and Competitions, as we find transportation of members extremely difficult.
There are many Benefits to playing or being involved in Inclusive Sport and Scarboccia offer a wide range of sports and activities and we do our upmost to provide a continuous increasing range so that we cater for everyone’s needs, whether it is for fun or at competition level. Why not come and join us?
Scarboccia have been lucky enough to be once again chosen as a Winner of the Heart of the Community Platinum Jubilee with NISA Supermarkets – Making a Difference Locally. We received an award of £500 to enable us to celebrate with our Community the Queens Platinum Jubilee. On Monday 30th May we had a Platinum Jubilee Celebration at the Street Community Centre between 11-1 pm. We are pleased to say that including carers 43 people attended and we thank all those that helped out on the day a great time was had by everyone.
Scarboccia was invited to facilitate a Boccia event at the Methodist Church in Pickering on 9 May 2022 by Ryedale Network and One Stop Shop, where 8 attended and they also wished to join our Wednesday Pickering Group at the Hungate Centre. Lots of fun was had by all.
We would like to thank Two Ridings Community Foundation for their generous Grant of £2,500 to enable us to continue to provide safe environments for our members and the Community so they can enjoy a variety of fully inclusive sports and games and it will allow us to facilitate our office at the Street in collaboration with Coastline Sight and Hearing Support.
We have been able to secure another £2,000 from Arnold Clark Community Fund, so that we can purchase another Boccia ramp for our ramp players to use and this will also fund other equipment/items that Scarboccia need such as Boccia shirts for our new members.
